ABOUT ME:
Audrey “Latifa” Patterson
My interest in personal growth and energy work began when I was around twelve years old, with the desire to help my family. I delved into the world of self-help and metaphysics, beginning with books such as Barbara Brennan’s Hands of Light and Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now. These books, and many others, have formed a basis for my understanding, and have fostered a sense of openness in me.
Later, I began to practice meditation. I first began to discover the benefits of Heart Rhythm Meditation™ around 2013, while looking for an embodied meditation that would resonate with me. Reading about the meditation at that time from the book, Living from the Heart, by Puran and Susanna Bair, gave me enough of an idea to begin to practice it and feel the meditation's benefits and potential. I attended Susanna and Puran’s meditation school, iamHeart, and have been practicing under their guidance since 2017. With this guidance, I made immense progress in my personal life.
I graduated from iamHeart's intensive meditation program, iamU, in 2019, received a certificate as a Heart Rhythm Meditation™ mentor in 2021, and graduated with a certification in their Hurqalya Method ™ of energy work in August of 2023.
In addition, I received an MA at Naropa University's Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in August of 2023.
All of this informs my approach as a meditation teacher and coach. My meditations combine the deep and loving, heart-centered awareness of Heart Rhythm Meditation, the physical, mental, and situational awareness of Mindfulness Meditation, and the active body-awareness of several modalities often used in energy work. What makes my coaching and meditation sessions different from counseling is that we can work on your goals in the here and now, and maintain a focus on the future, without delving for long into the past. It’s a journey in self-discovery that we can walk together.
